On the 26th Jan 2026, to mark Australia Day, India’s Republic Day and the just concluded Swarswati Puja, we organised a Maithil Family get-together. Over 32 family and 120 attendees participated and made the event a great success. They brought home made food related to Mithila cuisine and shared with others. Everyone enjoyed the event and built up rapport with new families.
However, we were not able to reach more than half the families from Mithila in Melbourne (Victoria-Australia). I need your help and guidance with how to reach out to those families and make a vibrant Mithila society in Melbourne where we can invite and showcase our culture, tradition and heritage to a wider audience.

Your help and support is requested to encourage more and more families from Mithila to connect and make a vibrant community in Melbourne.
This was proven when we started Chhatha here with Madheshi Community and within 3 Year of starting Chhath, both Organisations, BJSM (Bihar Jharkhand Sabha of Australia & New Zealand – (VIC) Melbourne) and MCV (Madheshi Community Victoria) expanded at an exponential rate.
