Dear Mr Pandey,

To introduce ourselves, the Overseas Indian Facilitation Centre (OIFC) was set up by the Government of India, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (Now under Ministry of External Affairs) in 2007, in partnership with India’s apex industry association, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to facilitate knowledge and economic engagement of Overseas Indians with India.

I am pleased to share with you the latest initiative of OIFC to engage Post Graduate students of Indian Origin/ Heritage: The India Corporate Internship Programme.

The programme offers 65 paid internship positions to students of Indian Origin (PIO/OCI) or students with an Indian passport. This programme is mostly aimed at those Post Graduate students who have completed their 1styear of MBA and are going on to the 2nd year or are pursuing Technical education/Engineering.

These paid Internships are offered by 24 top Indian companies like the Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart, the Tata group of companies viz TCS – the largest IT consultancy company of India, Tata Chemicals, Tata Trusts (patronized by Mr Ratan Tata himself),  Wipro (IT giant of India and a global company), Tata International and Trent, Apollo Healthcare  (the largest hospital chain in India), Narayana Health (healthcare company that became a Harvard Business School study after the founder Dr Devi Shetty offered cutting edge low cost technology for poor income group patients), the RPG group (the ‘His Master’s Voice – HMV’ group that large diversified group in e-commerce, power, music, retail); Godrej group of companies (leaders in manufacturing, food retail, chemicals, real estate), Forbes Marshall, Praj, Kirsloskar Brothers (all in manufacturing energy solutions), Blue Star (leaders in refrigeration & air-conditioning) etc.

Students can learn by working on exciting projects in diverse sectors like Aerodynamics, healthcare, engineering – manufacturing, e-commerce, retail, FMCG, Start-up Incubators, IT software & services, power etc. The internships promise an exposure with the CXO level of leadership and the young leaders who would be future corporate leaders of India.

Selected students will receive a stipend per month (amount varies from company to company but is more than enough to cover living expenses) plus safe & comfortable accommodation in most cases. Internship positions are being offered in major Indian cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, etc. Selected students who complete the programme will form a part of the elite OIFC club and will receive mentoring advice & opportunities to interact with Indian Corporate sector.

Students can apply for the internships through the OIFC website http://www.oifc.in/india-corporate-internship/about. More details about the programme and the participating companies can be obtained from the programme brochure attached with this mail.

We feel that the Internship Programme offers an exciting opportunity to work with global companies, in a multi-cultural environment, connect with their roots and experience India and its fabulous cities first hand. The internship opportunities not just value add to the professional experience of the selected student but also provides a window to enjoy the country that is India with all its colours, multiple cultures, cuisines, festivals, history and sights. Most of the internships that are based in metro cities and as such offer ample exposure to this enjoyable side of interning in India.

We will be extremely grateful if the initiative can be promoted among the your Diaspora members, so that a high number of persons can benefit from this.

You can share my email address, which can be shared with those who need more information from my end.

Kind Regards,

Kabir
