We are presenting our next program which will be a classical Manipuri Dance program and ballet by Manipuri Nartanalaya Kolkata-India’s leading Manipuri dance school. The visiting troupe has been invited to perform at the National Multicultural Festival on 8 February morning. The troupe is led by Ms Bimbavati Devi, the daughter of the renowned late Guru Bipin Singh and Kalavati Devi.

COMMONWEALTH DAY MULTI-FAITH CELEBRATION

10 MARCH 2014

The Commonwealth Day Celebration Committee, supported by the Royal Commonwealth Society (ACT) and the Commonwealth Round Table in Australia, is currently finalising plans for the annual multi-faith celebration.  The theme for this year’s Commonwealth Day Celebration is ‘Team Commonwealth: Transcending the Horizons.’

The celebration commences at 11am at the chapel of the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture (17 Blackall Street, Barton) and will involve leaders from all of the major religions as well as cultural performances representing various Commonwealth countries.

Regional PBD in Sydney – 10-12 November 2013

Dear All,

I am attaching an updated article on the PBD.  There is a brief section on the Speakers.   The Premiers of NSW and SA have already confirmed that they will be speaking at the event. Other prominent speakers include Senator Lisa Singh and Mr. Anand Satyanand, Former Governor General of New Zealand. We have a number of prominent speakers listed in the article. 

There will be musical recitals by Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma on the Santoor and Ms. Mita Pandit (Hindustani classical vocalist).  There will also be a performance of Bollywood dance by the Shiamak Davar Group and performances of different schools of Indian classical dance as well as talks on Yoga and Ayurveda.  This is in addition to the areas mentioned earlier like skills, education, manufacturing, services, resources, infrastructure, agriculture, youth, media and women in business, etc.

Bihar to figure in international labour meet at Geneva

PATNA: Steps taken by the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government for improving the lot of state’s workforce and unemployed youths would figure prominently at the 16-day 101st International Labour Conference (ILC) to be organized by International Labour Organisation (ILO) at Geneva (Switzerland), from May 30.

State labour resources development (LRD) department minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal, who would be a part of the four-member Indian delegation, led by Union labour and employment minister Mallikarjun Khadge, to ILC, said here on Saturday the ILO has allotted the first five days of the ILC to discuss the problems related to labour and youth unemployment in India, and also to take account of the concrete and corrective steps taken by the governments, both Union and state, on these fronts.
